LUCAS, Ky. – Barren River Lake State Resort Park near Glasgow will be hosting its 2nd Annual Geocaching Weekend on Oct. 26-28

Geocaching is an adventure game that uses technology and global positioning system units (GPS units) to locate the cache. These units use satellites to determine your position on Earth and can be used to pinpoint locations.

The weekend will include an introduction to geocaching and programs at all levels of difficulty. This is an ideal event for beginners. Registration is $15 per adult and $10 for children (12 and under) and includes all events and a t-shirt. It’s recommended that you bring your own GPS unit, but you will be able to participate if you don’t have one. There will be prizes awarded.

There will be a meeting Friday at 8 p.m. CST to discuss the weekend’s activities.

For more information and to register early, contact Lisa Deavers at 800-325-0057 or email her at lisa.deavers@ky.gov. Registration at the park starts at 7 p.m. (CT) on Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday at the park lodge.
