Tomorrow, Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo will travel to Washington, D.C. where he will meet with White House officials to discuss Kentucky's electronic healthcare (e-health) initiative.

Mongiardo will meet with Rob Neighbors, Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Lauren Aronson, Policy Director of the White House Office of Health Reform.

“Working together over the past 15 months, Governor Beshear and I have built on the foundation I laid as a state senator to transform Kentucky’s healthcare system into a model for the nation by making healthcare records electronic,” said Lt. Gov. Mongiardo. “Moving away from the current paper-based system would result in lower healthcare costs, provide more efficient delivery and open the way for new investment and jobs here in Kentucky.  My meetings with administration officials tomorrow are a continuation of that effort.”

Federal health experts have praised Lt. Gov. Mongiardo's “Next Generation” healthcare delivery system as a bold and innovative proposal that has the potential to transform healthcare on the national level.
