Labor Cabinet Recognizes Turner Construction for Earning VPPC Status

Company reaches highest standard in nation for construction industry

FRANKFORT, KY (May 28, 2009) – The Kentucky Labor Cabinet today recognized Turner Construction as a Voluntary Protection Partnership for Construction (VPPC) company.

“I’m encouraged to see companies participate in the cabinet’s safety partnership programs,” said Labor Cabinet Deputy Secretary Mark Brown. “Turner is a great example for other construction firms across the state that want to create a culture that promotes an injury-free environment and provides the safest workplace possible.”

The Voluntary Protection Partnership for Construction (VPPC) of Kentucky is a program offered by the Division of Education and Training to recognize and promote exemplary safety and health performance in the construction industry.

Participants must meet rigorous qualifying criteria and undergo an extensive on-site evaluation process in order to be certified as a program participant.  VPPC is the highest recognized standard in the nation for the construction industry.

Turner Construction is currently building two, 13-story buildings for the University of Kentucky. The expansion will add approximately 700 beds to the UK hospital.
