Clearing a Path Through Snow & Ice- Road Condition Update
FRANKFORT, KY (December 9, 2005) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet road crews braved bitterly cold weather, gusty winds and icy conditions overnight as they worked to clear a path through snow and ice. Icy conditions are making roadways extremely hazardous in many part of the state this morning. Crews are out salting and applying anti-icing agents.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet urges motorists to buckle up and drive cautiously this morning. Please remember to safely share the road with snow removal equipment. Please give snowplow drivers the room they need to operate. Condition reports on major routes are available by calling 511 or logging onto the 511 travel and traffic information website at http://511.ky.gov.
Road conditions vary across the state but there are several reports in local areas of roadways being "partly covered" and "mostly covered" with ice. Some of the most dangerous situations for motorists this morning will be on bridges and overpasses.
