LOUISVILLE, KY (October 19, 2006)- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Bill Nighbert has named Matt Bullock as the new Chief District Engineer in Highway District 5. The district includes Jefferson, Bullitt, Franklin, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble Counties. Bullock’s appointment is effective November 1, 2006.

“Matt is a results-oriented leader with a proven record in the private sector,” said Secretary Nighbert. “His experience with transportation-related issues gives him a unique perspective as the new Chief District Engineer and will greatly enhance our mission in District 5. Matt is a very impressive individual and extremely qualified to lead our Louisville district office.”

Bullock has more than eleven years of experience in the highway industry as a project manager and partner at a Louisville area consulting engineering firm.

“I am extremely honored and humbled by the confidence Secretary Nighbert has shown in me,” stated Bullock. “I believe my experience in the private sector will be a huge advantage as we work to improve our highway infrastructure throughout the district. I pledge to do the very best job I can.”

The Louisville-metro District 5 area includes more than 3,500 miles of state maintained roads. The district is currently managing 37 construction projects totaling $110.6 million in highway improvements.

Bullock lives in the Louisville area with his wife Talya and children Abby and Evan.
