The Transportation Cabinet is Eager to “ADOPT” Your Student’s Ideas! - Adopt-A-Highway Poster Contest Deadline September 30, 2005
Each year the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet hosts a contest to allow students from across the Commonwealth to submit their creative works for use in the annual Adopt-A-Highway Calendar. Exposure to the contest and to the Adopt-A-Highway program provides our young people with a sense of ownership in Kentucky’s highways and stresses the importance of keeping our highways clean and free of litter. It’s our way of educating our children not to litter and encouraging them to spread the message to others.
As a parent, teacher or family member, we ask that you encourage your children to participate in this beneficial contest. To obtain an entry form with the necessary certificate of authenticity please contact the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Office of Public Affairs or access the entry form at http://adopt-a-highway.ky.gov/, then click on poster contest.
Through this program the Cabinet hopes to increase environmental awareness and stewardship among children and to bring about a change in attitudes and behaviors concerning the growing problem with litter. With your child’s help a change in attitudes could result in a pleasing change of scenery.
Entries must be postmarked by September 30, 2005.
