Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet wants to thank the public for their support and understanding during the last five days as our employees worked to clear snow and ice covered roads during the Christmas holiday. The Cabinet wants to extend that spirit of cooperation to those who still have abandoned vehicles on the shoulder of our highways.

The Cabinet encourages anyone who still has a vehicle stuck in the snow and hasn't had any luck in getting out to contact local law enforcement to let them know they are trying to get their car out of the snow.

"We urge any motorist who still has a stranded vehicle to call your local authorities to give them a description of your vehicle, its location and the license plate number," said Dick Murgatroyd, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Deputy Secretary. "We ask that you let local authorities know that you are doing everything you can to get your car removed from our right of way."

Warmer temperatures are expected to help in the melting process, and should allow anyone who still has a stranded vehicle along any Kentucky roadway to retrieve it.
