 FRANKFORT, KY - (June 1, 2004) - Governor Ernie Fletcher and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Clay Bailey have appointed Barry Sanders, P. E. to serve as chief district engineer for District 5 in Louisville. Mr. Sanders has served as the acting chief district engineer in the Louisville office since 2003.
        Mr. Sanders is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer. He began his career with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in 1974. Since then, he has served as resident engineer, construction engineer, construction branch manager and acting chief district engineer. Mr. Sanders has worked on numerous award-winning projects including the Cochran Tunnels on I-64, the Jefferson Freeway and the Watterson Expressway. Mr. Sanders and his wife, Margo reside in Oldham County. They have four children and one grandson.
