Kentucky Colonel License Plate Ready for Production

Frankfort, KY (July 22, 2005) – Just a week and a half after the Kentucky Colonel license plate initiative was introduced, 900 members of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels have committed to purchasing the specialized plate.  In doing so, the minimum numerical requirement to create and order the special issue plate has been met in record time.

             “We are pleased with the positive response of so many Kentucky Colonels and are proud that this has been a record-breaking special issue plate,” said Roy Mundy, commissioner of Motor Vehicle Regulation. 

           Commissioned Colonels who are residents of Kentucky and interested in purchasing their own Kentucky Colonel license plate can contact Colonel Glen Bastin of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels at (502) 266-6114.  More information can be found at www.kycolonels.org.  The new plates are expected to be available in January  2006.

          NOTE:  Earlier this week the unbridled spirit license plate was unveiled.  Visit transportation.ky.gov to “rate the plate.”
