KENTUCKY COLONEL LICENSE PLATES NOW AVAILABLE ALL ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH
FRANKFORT, KY (February 21, 2006) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced today that Kentucky Colonel License plates are now available at the offices of County Clerks throughout Kentucky.
The General Assembly enacted legislation in 2005, which specified new administrative regulations and application procedures for specialty license plates. Under the new law, a group requesting a special license plate must submit nine hundred applications for the plate before the Transportation Cabinet will begin the process of designing a new plate. The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels met that requirement in record time.
“They met all the conditions for a specialty plate in only ten days,” said Commissioner of Vehicle Regulation, Roy Mundy. “Kentucky Colonels can be very proud of themselves for such a positive response. They set the bar very high with regard to meeting requirements for special issue plates.”
The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels is an organization of men and women who have been commissioned as Kentucky Colonels by the Governor. The honor is bestowed because of the individual’s service to mankind. The primary objective of the Order is to raise money for the support of charities, educational efforts and other worthy projects which will benefit Kentuckians.
The Order’s Senior Ambassador and Chief Operating Officer, Glen Bastin, stressed the charitable nature of the organization and its members. “When people see the Kentucky Colonel license plate, they should know that the individual in that driver’s seat is contributing to the betterment of Kentucky,” Bastin said.
Commissioned Colonels, who are Kentucky residents, can get more information about these specialty plates by calling Colonel Glen Bastin at (502) 266-6114, or by visiting these web sites: www.kycolonels.org and transportation.ky.gov.
