Transportation crews continue clearing state’s roadways
Winter weather heaviest in western Kentucky
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 26, 2012) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet highway crews continue plowing and treating roads following the latest batch of winter weather.
Crews are working over much of the state this afternoon, particularly in western Kentucky and in counties along the Ohio River. In these areas, crews are treating roadways or concentrating on reported problem spots.
Snow plows continue to clear snow from western Kentucky roadways – where flurries are being reported. Roads in that area remain slick and hazardous.
The cabinet reminds motorists: • Exercise greater caution when driving. Slow down! • Be prepared for slick conditions. • Give a wide berth to snow plows and other heavy highway equipment. • Eliminate distractions while behind the wheel.
Condition reports on major routes are available by calling 511 or by logging onto the 511 travel and traffic information website, http://511.ky.gov.
The cabinet’s SAFE Patrol is available to assist motorists whose vehicles become disabled on Kentucky interstates and parkways. For SAFE Patrol assistance, call 511 or toll-free at 1-877-FOR-KYTC (1-877-367-5982.)
