Trouble spots include Black Mountain, Pine Mountain in Harlan County

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 30, 2012) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet highway crews are plowing and treating roadways in a number of eastern counties, especially at higher elevations.

In Harlan County, crews overnight reported a foot of snow on Black Mountain (KY 160), nearly 6 inches on Pine Mountain (U.S. 421) and 3 inches on Leatherwood Mountain (KY 221).

Crews had to aid some stranded motorists on Black Mountain Monday night, and U.S. 23 in Letcher County was temporarily impassable.

Plowing continues today in these counties: Harlan, Knott, Letcher, Pike, Martin, Magoffin, Perry and Floyd.

Crews are treating or spot-treating roads in these counties: Lawrence, Johnson, Greenup, Mason, Lewis, Elliott, Boyd, Fleming, Carter, Nicholas, Rowan and Bath.
