Somerset, KY – (July 29, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is moving forward on upgrading the highway network in Pulaski County.  As a result of the $32,540,483 million contract previously awarded on the US 27 – Northern By-Pass (I-66), we are currently constructing a new bridge on KY 1674 that will span the proposed US 27- Northern By-Pass (I-66).

The contract was awarded to Bizzack Inc., of Lexington, Kentucky in November of 2004.  Completion date of this project for US 27 – Northern By-Pass (I-66) is scheduled for fall of 2007. Construction activities are scheduled to change depending on weather conditions.

“This will help to repair and upgrade our aging highway infrastructure and provide safer roads that will further economic development and enhance safe travel for Kentuckians,” said acting Secretary Bill Nighbert.

Beginning Monday, August 1, 2005, a section of KY 1674 (Clifty Road) will close from the intersection of KY 1674 and Wilson Road (MP 1.6) to the intersection of KY 1674 and Norwood Road (MP 1.9) to through traffic.  Motorists will be routed through Wilson Road and Whitson Road until completion of the bridge for the relocation of KY 1674 (Clifty Road).
