Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award $267,741.76 in Highway Contracts in Clinton County
Somerset, KY – (July 8, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Casey County. A contract, totaling $267,741.76, has been approved by the cabinet.
“These projects reflect my administration’s commitment to ensuring that drivers in Casey County are able to get to their work, schools or other destinations with confidence that our state’s roads are in the best condition possible,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.
The project is Clinton County, CB06 027GR05R020: Various Routes: (KY 415), 0.57 mi., (KY 553), 0.56 mi., (KY 558), 0.97 mi., (KY 639), 1.25 mi., (KY 696), 2.67 mi., (KY 1076) 0.95 mi. Asphalt Resurfacing with the low bid submitted by Hinkle Contracting Corporation, Paris, KY, in the amount of $267,741.76 and an approximate completion date of 11-30-05.
The contract awarded to Clinton County is contained in one of the largest lettings ever in the transportation cabinet. Clinton County is one of ten counties in District Eight. Approximately $13,192,301.13 has been awarded for projects in District Eight. Statewide, more than $167 million worth of projects have been authorized.
“These new projects will help to repair and upgrade our aging highway infrastructure and provide safer roads that will further economic development and enhance safe travel for Kentuckians,” said acting Secretary Bill Nighbert.
Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is fall of 2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
