Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award $241,815.32 in Highway Contracts in Adair County
Somerset, KY – (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Adair County. A contract, in the amount of $241,815.32 has been approved by the cabinet.
“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “These projects are an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”
The contract was awarded for resurfacing on Knifley Road (KY 551) from the end of new asphalt (MP 6.000) to KY 76 (MP 11.941) for a distance of 5.94 miles extending north to Boyle County line (MP 10.632. Gaddie Shamrock was awarded the low bid contract in the amount of $241,815.32.
Adair County is one of 10 counties in District 8. Approximately $3,488,149.06 million has been awarded for projects in District 8 during the last round of contract approvals. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have been authorized.
“These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public,” said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”
Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is October,2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
