GOVERNOR ERNIE FLETCHER ANNOUNCES $200,000 IN TRANSPORTATION FUNDS FOR
Money for Road Improvement Projects
LEXINGTON, KY (October 2, 2006) Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announced today that $200,000 in KYTC bond funds have been awarded to Montgomery County. Local officials have just been informed of the bond funding.
“I want to commend Governor Fletcher for his leadership. The improvements we make to our local transportation system improve the quality of life for everyone,” said Transportation Cabinet Secretary Bill Nighbert. “This funding reflects the Governor’s genuine commitment to work with local governments to build strong communities.”
The following bond funds were announced today:
Ø Montgomery County--$200,000 for McCormick Road and Orear Road resurfacing project
This $200,000 announcement of bond funding is in addition to $377,130 in discretionary road bond funds that was announced just a few months ago. Montgomery County has now received $577,130 in funding in discretionary road bonds.
In the past two years, local governments have received more additional state funding for their local road systems than at any other time in the history of the Commonwealth.
