FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Special to Madison County

KY 2878 (Colonel Road) to be closed for repairs

LEXINGTON, KY (October 13, 2006)—The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways announces that KY 2878 (Colonel Road) will be closed beginning Tuesday, October 17 through Thursday, October 19, 2006.  The closure will occur at the intersection of Colonel Road and KY 627 near Love’s Truck Stop.

The closure is necessary to complete repairs to the intersection of Colonel Road and KY 627, and is being conducted as a joint operation between the KYTC Department of Highways and Madison County.  The Department of Highways will provide traffic control and perform the necessary milling and pavement removal with Madison County providing the new asphalt surface for the intersection.

“This project, while minor in scope, is an excellent example of cooperation between agencies to improve roadway conditions for the motorists of Madison County,” said Steve Farmer, KYTC District Seven Operations.

All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.  Variable Message Boards and other traffic control devices will be in place to alert motorists of the closure.  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the closure and to utilize safe driving habits in the area during the shut down.
