LEXINGTON, KY (February 28, 2005)—The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways announces that a permit has been issued to The RJ Corman Railroad Company for the construction of an at-grade railroad crossing on KY 1681, Manchester Street, in Fayette County.
Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 1, 2005, Manchester Street will be closed at mile point 7.2 for a period of up to 30 days for the construction of this new crossing. The RJ Corman Railroad Company will perform all construction work for this crossing. The Department of Highways will provide traffic control during this project and will resurface the approaches upon completion.
Variable Message Boards and other traffic control devices will be in place to assist motorists. A detour has been assigned utilizing Forbes Road, Leestown Pike, and Cox Street. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the closure and to utilize safe driving habits in the area during the shut down.
