Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Announce Funding to Widen Mayde Road in Berea

LEXINGTON, KY (September 8, 2005) – Governor Ernie Fletcher and Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert announce that $3 million in funding has been allocated to the City of Berea to widen Mayde Road at the Berea Industrial Park.

“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “This project is an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”

“The upgrade to Mayde Road reflects our commitment to the traveling public,” said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”

Design and construction of this project will be overseen by the City of Berea and is expected to decrease congestion associated with the industrial park.  Currently, no time line has been established for this project.
