LEXINGTON, KY – (May 13, 2005) – As part of Governor Ernie Fletcher’s vision to provide a safe and reliable transportation system, acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert announces improvement work on US 127B and US 127 in Anderson County.
Beginning Monday, May 16, 2005, Mago Construction Company will start work to construct a right turn lane on Southbound US 127B at General Cable Drive in Anderson County. Construction of the turning lane is scheduled to be complete by June 30, 2005
“As part of our highway-economic development plan, this road project will improve mobility for the people of Anderson County and Kentucky,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.
Also, as part of this project, resurfacing will occur on US 127, from the Mercer County line (MP 0.00) to the south side of the Martha Layne Collins Bluegrass Parkway (MP 1.401), and on US 127B from US 127 (MP 0.00) to the intersection of KY 151 (MP 6.656). Resurfacing is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2005 and has a completion date of August 1, 2005.
Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through these work zones as crews will be present along both the road and right-of-way throughout this area. Appropriate signs, barrels and other traffic control devices will be used to mark the work zones. Motorists can expect lane closures and traffic shifts during both the construction of the turning lane and resurfacing work.
Mago Construction Company has been awarded this $2,561,306.04 low bid project. Mago Construction and their subcontractors will perform all work.
Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
