New Location of the Northern Kentucky Driver’s License Office Officially Dedicated with a Ribbon Cutting

Office Serves 10 Northern Kentucky Counties

Covington, Kentucky – (August 3, 2006) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet along with the Division of Drivers Licensing  had a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony today to officially dedicate the new home of the Northern Kentucky Drivers License Office.  In attendance was Commissioner of the Department of Vehicle Registration, Roy Mundy and Deputy Commissioner Sonia Sanders, division of Driver License employees as well as several local officials. 

Deputy Commissioner Sonia Sanders stated that, “This new location, with direct access from the interstate, will better serve the counties of Northern Kentucky.” Since 1985, the office was located in Newport Kentucky.  The new address is 8120 Dream Street, Suite A in Florence Kentucky.

The Northern Kentucky Drivers License Office will serve the counties of Bracken, Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Mason, Pendleton and Robertson Counties.  The office averages 190 people per week and 500 calls per week. 

The some of the primary functions of the Northern Kentucky Drivers License Office are:

1)     Review non-US citizen immigration documents to determine eligibility for a Kentucky driver’s license or identification card.

2)     Conduct administrative hearings for point violations, speeding 26 mph or more over limit, racing, eluding and false applications (special hearings).

3)     Collect fees for state traffic school, driving history records and reinstatements.

4)     Process requests for driving history records for District and Circuit Courts, law enforcement agencies and County Attorneys.

5)     Process all documents necessary for a customer to reinstate their driving privileges.

Commissioner Roy Mundy followed by saying, “Although we seek to improve every day in servicing our customers and helping our team, the things that we do to enhance the quality of life to all in Kentucky many times go unnoticed.  This facility proves our commitment to a safer and customer service oriented environment for our employees as well as the citizens of this Commonwealth."
