$5.4 million pavement repair project to improve North Bend Road in Boone County
Covington, KY – A major pavement repair project on KY 237 (North Bend Road) will improve the roadway infrastructure in Boone County. The project will remove deteriorated pavement and replace it with a new and improved structure surface, providing a smoother and safer ride for motorists.
“Along with the newly reconstructed section of North Bend Road near Interstate 275, this major rehabilitation project will definitely improve this heavily traveled corridor,” said Rob Hans, chief district engineer for KYTC District 6. “We are very excited about starting this project.”
Eaton Asphalt Paving Co., of Covington, was awarded the $5.4 million contract.
The paving repair project will occur between KY 18 (Burlington Pike) and Medical Arts Drive. Asphalt will replace the concrete for this section of the highway. Crews have mobilized equipment, and some of the first work involves installing new drainage along the corridor.
This construction project will have traffic impacts. Motorists should plan accordingly by taking alternate routes or allowing for more travel time.
The project is expected to be complete by summer 2012.
