Industrial Road in Boone County Begins Widening Project
$12.6 Construction Project will Help Alleviate Congestion
Covington, Kentucky. (July 2, 2007) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet wants to inform the public that the Industrial Road (KY 1829) widening project has begun in Boone County. The improved road will have a total of five lanes; a continuous turning lane with two south and northbound lanes, curb, gutter and sidewalks. The 1.6 mile section will go from US 42 in Florence to US 25.
Tom Schomaker, Chief District Engineer for KYTC District 6 said, “This needed road widening project will help relieve congestion in the Industrial Park area.”
Lawrence Construction and Leasing. Inc. of Burlington, Kentucky was awarded the low bid contract for $12.6 million.
The contractors have started clearing trees and begun utility work. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained throughout the construction project.
The project anticipated completion date is November 2008.
