GOVERNOR ERNIE FLETCHER & TRANSPORTATION CABINET ANNOUNCE $436,000 FUNDING FOR CYNTHIANA & HARRISON COUNTY
Money for Street & Road Improvement Projects
Covington, Kentucky - (July 18, 2006) - Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announced today that $436,000 in KYTC bond funds have been awarded to Cynthiana and Harrison County. Secretary of the Executive Cabinet, Robbie Rudolph, represented the Governor and presented ceremonial checks to local officials during an event at the Cynthiana City Hall building.
“Through government efficiencies and better management practices, Governor Fletcher has turned a projected $1 billion state deficit into a surplus of more than $377 million,” said Secretary Rudolph. “These projects in Cynthiana and Harrison County are the payoffs of this administration’s mission to get the most out of taxpayer dollars.”
The bond funds will be used in the following manner:
Ø Harrison County--$236,000 for recreation park bridge replacement
Ø Cynthiana--$100,000 for the resurfacing of various city streets
Ø Harrison County--$100,000 for the resurfacing of various county roads
Transportation Cabinet Secretary Bill Nighbert added “I want to commend Governor Fletcher for his leadership. The improvements we make to our local transportation system make lives better for everyone in the community.”
In the past two years local governments have received more additional state funding for their local road systems than at any other time in the history of the commonwealth.
