Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award a $197,882 Highway Contract in Bracken County
Covington, Kentucky – (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Bracken County. A contract totaling $197,882.15 has been approved by the cabinet.
“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “These projects are an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”
The project will consist of asphalt resurfacing on KY 19 (Milford-Powersville Road) from the Harrison County line extending north to Chaney Road. Mago Construction Company LLC, of Bardstown, Kentucky was awarded the low bid contract.
Bracken County is one of eleven counties in District Six. Approximately $12,262,333.59 million has been awarded for projects in District Six during the latest round of contract approvals. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have been authorized.
“These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public,” said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”
Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and should be completed by the end of the year. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
