Louisville, KY – (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Trimble County.  Two contracts, totaling $373,532, have been approved by the cabinet.

“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “These projects are an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”

Carlisle Road (KY 1335) will be resurfaced from KY 316 to the Carroll County line.  Terry Construction Company, Inc. was awarded the low bid contract in the amount of $123,527.

A second contract was awarded for the resurfacing of two roadways.  Kings Ridge Road (KY 1226) will be resurfaced from US 421 to the Carroll County line.  All of Mount Carmel Road (KY 1492) will be resurfaced, a distance of 2.0 miles.  Ohio Valley Asphalt LLC was awarded the low bid for this contract in the amount of $250,005.

Trimble County is one of eight counties in District 5. Approximately $3.6 million has been awarded for projects in District 5 during the latest round of contract approvals. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have recently been authorized.

“These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public,” said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”

Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is November 2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
