Governor & Transportation Cabinet Award $394,945 in Highway Contracts in Spencer County

Louisville, KY – (July 11, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Spencer County.  Two contracts, totaling $394,945, have been approved by the cabinet.

 

            “These projects reflect my administration’s commitment to ensuring that drivers in Spencer County are able to get to their work, schools or other destinations with confidence that our state’s roads are in the best condition possible,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.

 

            All of High Grove Road (KY 48) in Spencer County will be resurfaced, a total of 4.46 miles.  Mago Construction Company, LLC was awarded the low bid contract in the amount of $163,445. 

 

A second contract was awarded for the resurfacing of three roadways.  Plum Creek Road (KY 1060) will be resurfaced from KY 44 to KY 116.  Hickory Ridge Road (KY 1416) will be resurfaced from KY 248 to KY 1795.  Mill Road (KY 1795) will be resurfaced from KY 1416 to KY 636.  Commercial Pavers, Inc. was also awarded the low bid for this contract in the amount of $231,499.

 

            The contracts awarded to Spencer County are contained in one of the largest lettings ever in the Transportation Cabinet.  Spencer County is one of 8 counties in District 5. Approximately $6.2 million has been awarded for projects in District 5. Statewide, more than $167 million worth of projects have been authorized.

 

            “These new projects will help to repair and upgrade our aging highway infrastructure and provide safer roads that will further economic development and enhance safe travel for Kentuckians,” said acting Secretary Bill Nighbert.

 

            Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is November 2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
