Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award a $217,527 Highway Contract in Franklin County
Louisville, KY – (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Franklin County. A contract, totaling $217,527, has been approved by the cabinet.
"Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce," said Governor Ernie Fletcher. "This project is an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth."
The contract was awarded for the resurfacing of three roadways. Evergreen Road (KY 1665) will be resurfaced from Old US 127 to Cardwell Lane (KY 2817). Cardwell Lane (KY 2817) will be resurfaced from Evergreen Road to Michael Davenport Boulevard. Green-Wilson Road (KY 2820) will be resurfaced from 0.2 miles west of Briarwood Drive to US 127. H. G. Mays Corporation was awarded the low bid for this contract.
Franklin County is one of eight counties in District 5. Approximately $3.6 million has been awarded for projects in District 5 during the latest round of contract approvals. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have recently been authorized.
"These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public," said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. "Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads."
Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is November 2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
