Louisville, Ky. (April 19, 2005)– Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Deputy Secretary Jim Adams joined Representative Bob DeWeese and Metro Councilmen Kelly Downard and Glen Stuckel at an event to kick off road improvements on KY 22. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has let a contract for work, which will resurface 2.65 miles of KY 22 from Seminary Drive to just west of Hurstbourne Parkway. The project will also include the addition of rumble strips to the centerline and shoulders of the roadway to alert motorists when they are leaving their driving lane.
"The elected officials in this area have worked with the Transportation Cabinet to identify the needs for this roadway," said Deputy Secretary Adams. "We are glad to partner with them to bring improvements to KY 22. The safety improvements this project will provide is another example of Governor Ernie Fletcher’s commitment of providing a safe and reliable transportation system."
The contract was awarded to Commercial Pavers of Louisville, Kentucky in the amount of $243,784. Lane closures will be restricted to off peak hours, Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturdays 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 12:00 – 8:00 p.m. The project has a scheduled completion date of June 1, 2005.
