Louisville, KY (January 9, 2006) - The District 5 office of the Department of Highways announces  temporary on-ramp and lane closures on Interstate 65 in downtown Metro Louisville Monday night, January 9, 2006.  The I64 east ramp to I65 south will be closed from 7:00 p.m. Monday evening until 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning to allow for concrete bridge deck repairs.  In addition to accommodate this work, the I64 west / I71 south ramp to I65 south may be reduced to one lane.  Southbound I65 off the John F. Kennedy Bridge may also be reduced to one lane.  The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.

Motorists are urged to be cautious and reduce speed.  Stay alert and minimize distractions, and keep a safe distance between your vehicle, the car ahead, and the workers and their equipment.  This is a reminder we must all help reduce the number of highway work zone accidents and fatalities.  Slow Down to Get There! Buckle Up and DRIVE SMART!
