Louisville, KY (August 18, 2011) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office announces temporary closure of the right lane on westbound Interstate 64 in Shelby County between mile points 24 and 28.  This lane closure is scheduled for Friday, August 19th from 7:00 p.m. until midnight.  This lane closure will allow for installation of bridge beams as part of the I-64 widening project.

Since the two lanes on this section of I-64 are divided by a concrete median, motorists traveling through on westbound I-64 to Louisville should remain in the left lane.  Motorists wanting to exit at Simpsonville (Exit 28) should remain in the right lane.  The exit at Simpsonville will remain open.

The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Dial 511 or log on to 511.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  You can also get traffic information for the District 5 counties at www.facebook.com/KYTCDistrict5.
