Southbound Interstate 65 to be closed in downtown Louisville October 20 - 23, 2006

Louisville, KY – (October 19, 2006) – The Department of Highways District 5 Office reminds motorists about the closure of southbound Interstate 65 between I-64 in downtown Louisville and the Watterson Expressway (I-264).  This portion of the interstate will be closed from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2006 until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2006 to allow for pavement rehabilitation.  All entrance and exit ramps for southbound I-65 within this work zone will be closed.

Southbound I-65 is also scheduled to be closed the weekend of October 27 – 30, 2006.

During the closure of southbound I-65, through traffic coming from the Indianapolis area should follow the signed detour via I-265, I-64 and I-264 and reconnecting with I-65 at I-264.  Local traffic in southern Indiana can follow the signed detour via westbound I-64 and I-264.
