Department of Highways, District 5
Interstate 65 / Kennedy Bridge Advisory
August 8, 2005 - The District 5 Department of Highways office in Louisville announces temporary lane closures on Interstate 65 on the John F. Kennedy Bridge (approximately mile point 137.5) as part of the JFK Bridge painting project. These north and southbound lane closures will occur between 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, and 6:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2005.
However, motorists should expect possible delays and closures anytime within the time frames represented below during the project's duration (holidays excluded.) For example, any night of the week, two lanes of traffic in either direction can be temporarily closed between 1:00 and 6:00 a.m.

The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists are urged to be cautious and reduce speed. Stay alert and minimize distractions, and keep a safe distance between your vehicle, the car ahead, the construction workers and their equipment. This is a reminder we must all help reduce the number of highway work zone accidents and fatalities. Slow Down to Get There!
