Cable Barrier Installation to Begin on Interstate 65
Louisville, KY (July 13, 2012) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office in Louisville advises motorists to be aware of impending construction on Interstate 65 in Bullitt and Jefferson Counties.
Work is scheduled to begin July 16th on installation of median cable barriers on seven mile section of Interstate 65. The new barriers will extend from just north of KY 44 in Bullitt County to three-quarters of a mile north of I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) in Jefferson County (mile points 116.9 to 123.9).
The George B. Stone Company of Sharpsburg, KY was awarded the contract for this project in the amount of $694,780. The work is scheduled for completion by August 30, 2012.
During construction, lane closures will be possible Sundays through Thursdays from 8:00 p.m. each evening until 7:00 a.m. the following morning. Shoulder closures may be in place during daytime hours. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 MPH.
