Louisville, KY (January 19, 2006) -  District 5 of the Department of Highways announces a temporary lane and ramp closure on southbound Interstate 65 in downtown Louisville Metro Thursday night, January 19, 2006.  The southbound Interstate 65 ramp to Interstate 64 west and Interstate 71 north will be reduced to one lane (mile point 136.4) from 7:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. midnight to allow for crash cushion replacement.  Access to I71 north from this ramp will be restricted during these working hours.  The actual starting date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.

Motorists are urged to be cautious and reduce speed.  Stay alert and minimize distractions, and keep a safe distance between your vehicle, the car ahead, and the workers and their equipment.  This is a reminder we must all help reduce the number of highway work zone accidents and fatalities.  Slow Down to Get There! Buckle Up and DRIVE SMART!
