Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award a $64,696.10 Highway Contract in Marion County
Elizabethtown, KY – (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Marion County. A contract, totaling $64,696.10, has been approved by the cabinet.
“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “This project is an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”
Metts Drive (KY 3221) will be resurfaced from KY 208 in Lebanon extending north to Lebanon Liberty Road (KY 49), approximately one mile. Nally & Haydon Surfacing, LLC of Bardstown, KY was awarded the low bid contract in the amount of $64,696.10.
Marion County is one of 11 counties in District 4. Approximately $28 million has been awarded for projects in District 4 during the latest round of contract approvals. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have recently been authorized.
“This maintenance project reflects our commitment to the traveling public,” said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”
Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is fall 2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
