State reopens KY 2766 in Grayson County
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (Aug 11, 2010) — The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet today reopened KY 2766 in Grayson County, almost four months after a section of the road near KY 185 was washed away by flooding May 1-2.
“We consulted with drainage experts in order to choose the best repair solution for this location,” said Patty Dunaway, chief district engineer for the Elizabethtown highway district. “Ordering the materials and placing the culvert took extra time, but we believe the completed project will be worth the effort.”
The new culvert is larger and designed to handle additional water capacity, helping prevent future washouts.
“We realize this has been an inconvenience for motorists, and we appreciate their patience as we work to improve the infrastructure,” Dunaway said.
Motorists should continue to use caution in the area. Shoulder work and application of a final layer of asphalt will be completed in the future.
