State adding traffic signal at Veteran’s Memorial Highway, KY 49 intersection in Lebanon
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (July 23, 2010) — Traffic signal installation is under way at the intersection of KY 2154 (Veteran’s Memorial Highway) and KY 49 (Loretto Road), in Lebanon.
Engineers expect the sensor-controlled signal will be operational by mid-August.
“As installation is completed, motorists will need to use caution as the community adjusts to the new signal,” Patty Dunaway, chief engineer for the Elizabethtown highway district, said.
A recent Transportation Cabinet study indicated that traffic volumes along both intersecting roads warranted a traffic signal.
Traffic counts at the intersection have trended upward since the Lebanon bypass was completed in July 2008. Nearly 6,000 vehicles a day pass through the intersection.
Motorists should use caution in the work zone while installation progresses.
