Stimulus funds used to improve KY 144 culvert, ditch in Hardin County
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (May 12, 2010) — A project to improve drainage and prevent shoulder erosion on KY 144 in Vine Grove is scheduled to begin next week.
The $169,850 project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
“Kentuckians throughout our state are seeing the benefits of federal stimulus dollars,” Gov. Steve Beshear said. “This project exemplifies the many investments – large and small – that are contributing to overall improvement of our highway network.”
Crews plan to replace a culvert under the roadway and realign the ditch to prevent damage to the road’s shoulder.
To complete the project, KY 144 will be closed at mile point 0.9, between KY 1882 and KY 1500, from 8 a.m. Monday, May 17, until 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 19.
Motorists can detour via KY 1882, KY 1600 and KY 391. A signed detour route is posted.
Kelsey Construction, of Shepherdsville, is the prime contractor.
