Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award $1,178,000 in Highway Contracts in Warren County

            BOWLING GREEN, KY– (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Warren County. Two contracts, totaling $1,178,422.94 have been approved by the cabinet.

 

            “Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “These projects are an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”

 

            A contract was awarded to Scotty’s Contracting and Stone LLC for $593,709.97 work on Scottsville Road (US 231). The project will consist of resurfacing and the installation of traffic count loops. A second contract was awarded to Scotty’s Contracting and Stone LLC for $584,712.97 for work on Russellville Road (US 68). The project will also consist of resurfacing and the installation of traffic count loops.

           

            Warren County is one of 10 counties in District 3. Approximately $3,977,000 has been awarded for projects in District 3 during the latest round of contract approvals. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have recently been authorized. 

 

            “These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public,” said Acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”

 

            Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is October 15, 2005 for the project on Russellville Road. The Scottsville Road project completion date is set for June 1, 2006. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
