Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award $541,000 Highway Contract in Todd County
ELKTON, KY– (August 26, 2005) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Todd County. A contract, totaling $541,064.15 has been approved by the cabinet.
“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher. “These projects are an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”
A contract was awarded to Scotty’s Contracting and Stone LLC for the resurfacing of four roads. Allensville Road (KY 102) will be resurfaced from the Logan County line to Gardner Lane, a distance of 3.71 miles. Kirkmansville-Hopkinsville Road will be resurfaced from the Christian County line easterly to mile point 0.7, a distance of .7 mile. Rabbit Ridge (KY 890) will be resurfaced from KY 107 to the Muhlenberg County line, a distance of 4.19 miles. Fairground Road (KY 2628) will be resurfaced from US 41 to the Tennessee State line, a distance of 3.02 miles.
Todd County is one of 10 counties in District 3. Approximately $3,977,000 has been awarded for projects in District 3 during the latest round of contract approvals. Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have recently been authorized.
“These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public,” said Acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”
Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is November 30, 2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
