Russellville, KY – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Logan County.  Two contracts, totaling $1,147,550, have been approved by the cabinet.

“These projects reflect my administration’s commitment to ensuring that drivers in Logan County are able to get to their work, schools or other destinations with confidence that our state’s roads are in the best condition possible,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.

The first contract provides for resurfacing on Trimble Road (KY 1308) from KY 591 north to KY 663. Scotty’s Contracting and Stone LLC of Bowling Green was awarded the low-bid contract for $247,555.70. The second contract is for safety improvements including curve and bridge widening to the Russellville-Guthrie Road (US 79) at mile point 5.927. Do All Construction Inc. of Caneyville was awarded the low-bid contract of $899,994.84.

The contracts awarded to Logan County are contained in one of the largest lettings ever in the transportation cabinet.  Logan County is one of ten counties in District 3. Approximately $3,904,381 has been awarded for projects in District 3. Statewide, more than $167 million worth of projects have been authorized.

“These new projects will help to repair and upgrade our aging highway infrastructure and provide safer roads that will further economic development and enhance safe travel for Kentuckians,” said acting Secretary Bill Nighbert.

Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date for both projects is October 15, 2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
