MANCHESTER, KY –(August 28, 2006)—Governor Ernie Fletcher and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet are taking action to make an emergency upgrade to a Bell County highway.  Funds totaling $47,600 were recently authorized to repair a slip on Upper Bird Branch Road.

“Governor Fletcher has directed the Transportation Cabinet to make emergency situation repairs as quickly as possible with minimal delays to the traveling public,” said Bill Nighbert, Transportation Cabinet Secretary.

The project involves constructing a retaining wall on Upper Bird Branch Road, approximately .100 mile north of KY 987, to prevent further erosion of the roadway.

The county will be responsible for all phases of the project and the cost will be paid from County Road Aid emergency funds.
