As part of the vision of Governor Ernie Fletcher and acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert to provide a safe and reliable transportation system for all Kentuckians, work will begin on a safety improvement project on KY 2069 in Laurel County.   A curve located at Milepoint .400 to .480 on Middleground Way will be  realigned, making travel much safer for motorists who use this route on a daily basis.

Work is scheduled to begin October 4, 2005, utilities will be moved and Bluegrass Contracting, Inc. will begin construction to realign the curve.

Road will be closed to all traffic for approximately five to six weeks as construction will be dependent on weather conditions.  Motorists are urged to use caution in the work area and be alert for workers, equipment that may block the roadway and other items of concern in work zones.  The Transportation Cabinet urges motorists to be alert to warning signs and cautious of work zone speed limits where applicable.
