Governor Fletcher & Transportation Cabinet Award $365,673 in Highway Contracts in Laurel County

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is working to upgrade the highway network in Laurel County.  Two contracts, totaling $365,673 have been approved by the cabinet.

“Our highway system is the driving force behind Kentucky’s economic prosperity and flourishing commerce,” said Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “These projects are an example of our continuing work to provide a safe and reliable transportation system throughout the commonwealth.”

Sally’s Branch Road (KY 80), realign intersection from MP 13.930 to MP 14.240, grade and drain with asphalt surface, a distance of .07 mile.  Horne & Tramel Construction Co. LLC was awarded the low bid contract in the amount of $163,384.  

A second contract was awarded for horizontal realignment with asphalt surface from   Sublimity Loop Road N (KY 2069) from MP .400 to MP .480, a distance of .09 miles.  Bluegrass Contracting was awarded the low bid contract in the amount of $202,289.  
Laurel County is one of 8 counties in District 11.   Approximately $15.5 million has been awarded for projects in District 11 during the latest round of contract approvals.  Statewide, more than $110 million worth of projects have recently been authorized.  

“These maintenance, upgrades and new road projects reflect our commitment to the traveling public,” said acting Transportation Secretary Bill Nighbert. “Kentucky’s motorists can rest assured that they are driving on safe, reliable roads.”

Locally, work is expected to begin in the near future and the anticipated completion date is November 15, 2005. Construction activities are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather conditions.
