JACKSON, KY – (June 9, 2006) -- Drivers who use KY 11 and KY 15 between Slade and Stanton in Powell County should be aware of changing traffic patterns due to a bridge replacement project near Nada.

Traffic will be diverted Monday, June 12 to a temporary bridge to carry KY 11 and KY 15 across the Middle Fork of the Red River. The existing bridge will be removed and replaced with a new $825,241.30 span. The project location is approximately two miles northwest of Slade.

Drivers are urged to slow down and obey the advisory speed signs posted in the construction zone. The configuration of the temporary bridge and the detour route involves curves and a dip in the roadway, meaning a reduction in normal traveling speed will be necessary to safely negotiate the detour.

Motorists are advised to be alert to the possibility of encountering stopped traffic during the construction. They are urged to "Drive Smart" and be on the lookout for flaggers, workers, equipment and traffic control devices as the work progresses. The project is expected to be completed by this fall.
