JACKSON, KY. – (May 30, 2006) -- Motorists on the Mountain Parkway Extension in eastern Wolfe County will likely experience delays and possible traffic stoppages on Tuesday, June 6, due to overhead telephone line work.

The affected area is the two-lane portion of the Mountain Parkway, approximately between mile markers 50 and 60, or between Campton and the Morgan County line. This will affect traffic between Salyersville, Paintsville, Prestonsburg and Pikeville and Campton, Winchester and Lexington, and vice versa. The work is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and should end by noon. No marked detour is being established, as road closures are expected to be brief.

Motorists are advised to be alert to the possibility of encountering stopped traffic during the construction. They are urged to "Drive Smart" and be on the lookout for flaggers, workers, equipment and traffic control devices as the work progresses.
