Press Release Date:  April 19, 2005

H.B. Elkins, PIO
District 10

JACKSON, KY – (May 19, 2005) -- Motorists traveling KY 267 in the Rowdy area of Perry County will experience long delays next week due to planned highway construction.

The Department of Highways has scheduled pavement rehabilitation for the Rowdy-Low Gap Road portion of KY 267 between KY 1146 at Dice and KY 476 at Rowdy, for Wednesday and Thursday, May 25 and 26, and again on Tuesday, May 31. Work will be done weather permitting. While the road will not be closed during this project, drivers will encounter long delays and may wish to consider an alternate route.

The exact location is between mile markers 9 and 11 near the top of the mountain.

Motorists who choose to travel KY 267 during the work are urged to use caution in the work area, and to be alert for flaggers, workers, equipment which may block a portion of the roadway, and other items of concern in work zones. They should pay close attention to warning signs alerting them of the roadwork as well as traffic control devices such as cones, barrels or barricades.
