JACKSON, KY. – (Aug. 15, 2006) -- Motorists on KY 15 north of Hazard in Perry County will experience delays on Thursday, Aug. 17, as work continues on a safety improvement project.

The project to remove the center median and add a turn lane on KY 15 between the Hazard Bypass (Johnny Cox All-American Drive) and Perry County Park Road will require lane closures. Therefore, drivers in this area should expect delays. The work is expected to take all day, weather permitting.

The closures are necessary as part of the project to add a deceleration and turning lane to this portion of KY 15, which is the most heavily traveled highway in the Department of Highways District 10.

Motorists are advised to be alert to the possibility of encountering stopped traffic during the construction. They are urged to "Drive Smart" and be on the lookout for flaggers, workers, equipment and traffic control devices as the work progresses.
