JACKSON, KY. – (June 13, 2006) -- Motorists on KY 15 north of Hazard in Perry County will experience delays for blasting this afternoon, June 13, as work continues on a safety improvement project.

Beginning at 6 p.m., there will be brief and intermittent closures of KY 15 between the Hazard Bypass (Johnny Cox All-American Drive) and Perry County Park Road. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the blasting and cleanup efforts are not expected to exceed two hours.

The closures are necessary as part of the project to add a deceleration and turning lane to this portion of KY 15, which is the most heavily traveled highway in the Department of Highways District 10.

Motorists are advised to be alert to the possibility of encountering stopped traffic during the construction. They are urged to "Drive Smart" and be on the lookout for flaggers, workers, equipment and traffic control devices as the work progresses.
